this oil painting for example is 16 x 20 inches

with the mounts and frame the outside size could
be taken up to 24 x 30 or more and still look good

framing is not a service we can offer at present

you should be able
to get a selection of "mounts" ( shown here in gray and cream )
or "mats" as called in the USA from a good hobby shop or picture
framers. here the canvas without stretcher bars is pinned, taped
or lightly glued to a backing board then the mount is laid over
and lightly secured covering the edges of the painting and the
whole assembly is inserted into the frame.

The mounts are normally coloured cardboard and the
colour selected could be used to fine tune the
overall effect by enhancing certain colours in the painting
or complimenting existing colours in the display room.

in this case we would supply the painting rolled in a tube

The normal / traditional way of framing oil paintings, as you will
notice in your local Art Gallery, is with the oil painting canvas
stretched and pinned to a "stretcher bar" frame.
( this is to keep the painting canvas taught )
the whole assembly is then inserted
into the decorative frame from the back and is not seen.

we normally send them mounted on stretcher bars
unless asked not to

The top method of mounting and framing paintings was normally
used for water colours and had a sheet of glass in front to protect
and try to limit damage to the watercolour.
In modern times, decor is a lot more adventurous and this method
is becoming more popular as a way of increasing
style options.
