Painting Forth Bridge Painting

Scottish landscape painting showing the forth Bridge

Scottish Art

A Painting of the Forth Bridge as viewed from North Queensferry. Built between 1883 - 1890 to provide a railway crossing over the Firth of Forth. At the height of construction there were 4,600 workers toiling away. It used 55,000 tons of steel, 640,000 cubic feet of Aberdeen granite. It has 8,000,000 rivets and the last one, a gold one, was ceremoniously struck by H.R.H. the Prince of Wales in March 4th 1890. From mid-winter to mid-summer the bridge expands 1 metre in length.

As an old lady she needs a face lift every now and then, this one
seems to be taking ages but she does use 145 acres of paint.

There is so much I can write but so much better written already.
Undiscovered Scotland and Forth Bridges
to name a couple.
