Landscape Painting showing Highland Cows on Rannoch Moor

victorian style landscape painting

On Rannoch Moor

This is a reproduction I have made of a painting by the British artist Louis Bosworth Hurt who lived from 1856-1929. He produced many Scottish art topics and is probably best remembered for his Highland cows which appeared in a lot of his paintings.
The original, I believe is worth around £4,000 - 6,000+ and I must admit it is better than mine but it is larger allowing for more detail.

Rannoch Moor is located to the south east of Fort William. It is a plateau at around 1100 feet above sea-level, created 20,000 years ago by the movement of glaciers. It is surrounded by 3,000 foot mountains and acts as a watershed collecting the water run-off and diverting it westward to the Atlantic or eastward to the North sea. It consists of around 50 square miles of boggy moorland on a granite base.

To help combat possible fraud all reproductions are dated.
