A Scottish landscape painting showing the Old Packers Bridge
from Carrbridge up by Aviemore. It can be seen from the main
road so attracts a lot of visitors.
Originally built for foot passengers and horses in 1717. It had
suffered a fair bit of damage in 1829 by the river in spate.
I remember "testing my manhood" over it as
a teen-ager and as fragile as it looks now must
have been very well built to have stood so long.
I
believe it cost £100 to build, pretty good value really.
