The Queen and her family.
The original building dates before 1390.
Queen Victoria used to holiday at Ardverikie Castle but was fed up of it
always raining and on hearing good reports on Balmoral purchased it
in
1852 for £31,000. In 1853 - 55 it was re-modeled and rebuilt as their
highland retreat using local white granite.
